Luke Beckstein Named New Manager of Worcester Bravehearts

Former Northeastern Shortstop and Current Kansas State Assistant Coach to Take Over Reigns

The Worcester Bravehearts have announced today that former CAA Defensive Player of the Year at Northeastern University and current Kansas State Baseball Assistant Coach Luke Beckstein will become the 5th manager in Worcester Bravehearts history. Along with Beckstein, the Bravehearts have announced the rest of the coaching staff, which will include the return of pitching coach Greg Stagani and former Bravehearts second baseman and Wachusett High School-Graduate Mike Maher as hitting coach.

Beckstein is no stranger to the Futures League, or to winning championships. In 2020, he was the shortstop for the Nashua Silver Knights team that defeated the Bravehearts in the Futures League Championship Series. Last summer, Beckstein was an assistant coach for the Newport Gulls, who won the 2024 New England Collegiate Baseball League Championship.

“I’m super excited to be a part of such a storied organization,” said Beckstein. “I want the fans, community and city to know how much this means to me. I’m looking forward to helping our players develop and to help create an incredible product that this city can be proud of.”

Beckstein, 23, becomes the youngest manager in Bravehearts history. The team believes his energy and passion will be something that will help win games and excite fans.

“We are thrilled to welcome Luke to the Bravehearts family,” said Bravehearts President Matt Vaccaro. “Luke’s energy, outlook, and class will fit in perfectly with our city and culture.”

“One of our pillars of the Bravehearts is ““Youthful,”” said Bravehearts General Manager Dave Peterson. “While that doesn’t always mean literally, we wanted a manager who is full of energy and will add to the excitement of our experience. We believe Luke will do just that.”

The Bravehearts will return core members of the 2023 coaching staff, with the return of pitching coach Stagani, and former manager Alex Dion taking a role in the team’s front office as Director of Player Personnel.

A Tyngsborough Native, Beckstein was a three-sport athlete at Groton School. His sister Karenna currently plays soccer at the College of the Holy Cross.

“It’s cool to be at a place that already feels like home,” said Beckstein. “It’s good to be somewhere that feels like you are part of the family.”
